It looks like someone took YB's plastic container home. It had excellent coconut cake in it.
Unfortunately he needed it last weekend, but still needs the actual container back.

It's easy to make a mistake in all the rushing about on the last day, but please check your bags etc to make sure you didn't take it. It's a rectangular prism with a blue lid. I've also put out an email to staff.

Otherwise it was a great potluck and we will miss GA very much but wish him well in his new school.

Hope you are all having fun and getting some rest.

Grade 5's need to get your Science portfolio in order.
Grade 6 you are presenting your project the week you come back.

Language:  You are presenting the week you come back.

Math:  Go to www.mathfrog.ca and play the Number Sense games that are not fractions, and the Patterning and Geometry games.

Other:  We have lots of work and lots of trips coming up in the new year, so be kind to your family and get lots of fun and rest!

Remember we are having a short potluck tomorrow to celebrate the winter break and say goodbye to our student G.M. who is moving.

Math:  last Geometry quiz and some Geometry activities.

Can you bring (nut-free) treats? We seem to have a lot of volunteers for chips.

Thanks to the many, many students in our class who took part in the Winter Concert dress rehearsal. Best wishes for the concert tonight!

Math:  If you have finished the Geometry Unit in 5.1 or 6.1 you are finished! Which means no math homework tonight.
Quiz and activities tomorrow.

Language:  Spelling Lesson 4 test on Friday
Are you ready to present your Children's Book Review? Graphic organizers and 3 sections.

Art:  Kiki's Delivery Service. Remember that question 3 relates to the art form of cartoons. What makes a cartoon different from a real-life drawing? DUE TOMORROW!

Remind your parents of the Holiday Concert on Wednesday night. We have a number of students in it.

Math:  continue JUMP 5.1 and 6.1 in Geometry. You should have finished Show What You Know and be working on the Unit Problem on a separate piece of paper, keeping in mind the Math Journal Success Criteria.

Geometry Quiz tomorrow:  Angles and Shapes.

Language:  Spelling Test on probably Thursday. You should be finishing the Children's Book Review in class.

Science:  Grade 5s have a test on Friday, mostly vocabulary so if you read over your portfolio and understood the hands on activity in class you should be fine.
Measures of Matter is the sheet you have to complete tonight.

Art:  Where are your reflections for Kiki's Delivery Service?

Bring in $2 if you can afford it. It goes to the Syrian Refugee Appeal, and when you donate $2, the Canadian government donates $2 so it's like you are donating $4.

Only one week to go until the holiday break!

Math:  JUMP 5.1 page 166-170
JUMP 6.1 pages 166-170
Monday will be Show What You Know. We will have the unit test and the unit problem next week and be finished our third math unit by the break.

Language:
Lesson 4: write the definitions for 5 words, and use 5 words in sentences that show their meaning (for example, complex sentences with some description).

Art: Reflection on Kiki's Delivery Service. If you missed seeing it, for whatever reason, I will show it on Tuesday during lunch and recess. You are welcome to bring food. The reflection is due next Thursday.

Hi everyone!

I'm sorry the blog has been down;  I've been ill and while I was away my computer got reimaged! Meaning I lost my password. We're back now.

Math:
-final Patterning quiz tomorrow
-finish Lesson One of the Geometry Unit in Math Makes Sense. The Explore pages you may do with a friend but the Practice section needs to be completed independently. (Grade 6 page 82, Grade 5 page 80)

Language:
-we are continuing to work on the Children's Book Review in class. You need to keep the book itself until this is finished.
-Spelling Lesson 4 will be distributed tomorrow.

Science:
-Grade 6 finish writing the experiment
-Grade 5 nothing today

Art:
-finish your first draft of your realistic (true to what it really looks like, high detail, 3-D with shading) and your cartoon (unrealistic, animated, exaggerated features, human-like, bright colours, often 2-D)
pictures of yourself.
