It looks like someone took YB's plastic container home. It had excellent coconut cake in it.
Unfortunately he needed it last weekend, but still needs the actual container back.
It's easy to make a mistake in all the rushing about on the last day, but please check your bags etc to make sure you didn't take it. It's a rectangular prism with a blue lid. I've also put out an email to staff.
Otherwise it was a great potluck and we will miss GA very much but wish him well in his new school.
Hope you are all having fun and getting some rest.
Ms. MacAulay
P.S. Thank you for the great gifts and chocolate. My family and I are enjoying them very much!

I will be meeting with parents this week to discuss student progress, and have been calling parents.
If I have not called you by Wednesday and you would like to meet, please email me at corey-lyla.macaulay@tdsb.on.ca.

Hi, and welcome back.
I will be updating the blog for homework only. Other communication will continue to come from the administration (the office).
In Math, both grades are finishing Number Sense. A journal and a final test will be completed this week. Watch your child's agenda for the test and the mark. I will be expecting parent/guardian signatures so you are aware of your child's progress. Homework will continue to be assigned from the Math Makes Sense textbook and the JUMP Math workbook.
Grade 6 JUMP 6.1 pages 74-79
Grade 5 JUMP 5.1 pages 74-77
In Language we continue our word work in Grammar (nouns, possessive nouns, proper nouns, collective nouns) and verbs (various tenses). Guided reading (small groups with teacher conferencing) takes place on Days 2 and 4. Students are expected to read independently every night.
We are also reviewing and practicing forms of text, with the emphasis on NON-fiction, such as biography and reports.
Ms. Shanti is teaching Social Studies to Grade 5 students.
In anticipation of the Federal Election on October 19th, our school is participating in Student Vote (a mock vote) tomorrow!
Grade 6 students have Social Studies homework twice a week, and the theme is Canada's Links to the Global Community. We are focusing on trade, human rights, worker's rights, and cultural links. Rose Avenue students bring much prior knowledge to this subject!
Please contact me by email if you have any concerns. I will be meeting with parents of students I haven't taught before over the next two weeks!
