Thursday, May 19th

Homework:
-Math Makes Sense Transformational Geometry Unit, Lesson 6 for Grade 5
and Lesson 7 for Grade 6.

Science:  Grade 5-Forces sheet and short assignment comparing the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Eiffel Tower, and the CN Tower.

Social Studies:  Grade 5-You should have submitted your Primary-Secondary Sources assignment, your completed and organized Learning Portfolio, your RAFT project, and your reflection (on the back of your table of contents).

EQAO testing for grade 6 will take place beginning May 31st. We will be prepping the students in-class…and there is much you can do at home as well if you wish.
HOWEVER, the best preparation for a test is for a student to arrive with:  a full stomach, adequate rest, lots of exercise, and a positive 'can do' attitude. Students and parents need to be aware that the EQAO results do NOT affect the student's report card or progress in school. They are a diagnostic assessment of learning in classes and schools as a whole, to help the education system determine where we are doing well, and where we can do better.

Programming will continue as usual in the morning, and field trips will resume after the test is over.
If you feel you need to do further preparation, you can download EQAO practice tests and have your child complete them at home. If you choose to download a test, please treat it as usual homework and do not put pressure on your child to spend more than their usual time on it. Your child may benefit from this review of their language and math skills. You may choose to do as many tests as you like (or none) and as much/little preparation as you prefer. It is up to you to mark and review the test with your child. Please see below for more information:
